Airspan axes another 30% of Israeli workforce in second round of layoffs
The American telecommunications company is laying off 60 of 200 employees in Israel after firing 35 employees last June
American telecommunications company Airspan is laying off around 60 of its 200 employees in Israel, accounting for approximately 30% of its local workforce. This is the second round of layoffs at the company, which sacked around 35 people in June 2022.
Airspan provides software and hardware for 5G networks and end-to-end Open RAN solutions that are interoperable with other vendors. The company says it has shipped over one million cells to 1,000 customers in more than 100 countries.
"As a response to the slowdown in the rate of investments by operators in communication infrastructure and its effect on the company's revenues in 2023 to date, we are obliged to make adjustments and carry out efficiency measures and improve processes in order to adjust the operating expenses as part of the long-term plans,” the company said in a statement. “In this framework, unfortunately we are forced to reduce our workforce also in Israel and lay off about 60 employees out of the 200 employees at the company's site in Israel. It is important for us to take care of the employees who will be fired and we are working to help them find new jobs."
