Not everything is going to go to the cloud, Microsoft’s corporate vice president of cloud platform Julia White said Monday, speaking at Calcalist’s Mind the Data conference held in Tel-Aviv. “We believe there is an important and pivotal role in what’s happening at the edge, and that’s what’s really emerging right now, the edge being IoT devices, the edge being operating rooms, factory floors, ships, oil rigs,” she said. “Data is the place that we see having a big local role, obviously using the power of the cloud but having that at the edge as well, doing processing efficiently and effectively in that location,” she added.
