Visual Software Testing Startup Applitools Raises $31 Million
Applitools’ software mimics the way the human eye and brain perceive visual information to monitor the visual aspects of web and mobile apps

Visual app and software testing startup Applitools announced on Tuesday it had raised $31 million in a Series C funding round led by OpenView Venture Partners, with participation from existing investors Sierra Ventures, Magma Venture Partners, iAngels, and La Maison.

Applitools’ software uses image processing technology that “mimics” the human eye and brain and automatically tests the visual aspects of web and mobile apps to ensure they appear and function correctly on a variety of devices, browsers, and operating systems. Applitools reports more than 300 customers including Microsoft, Slack, Dropbox, HP, Sony, Louis Vuitton, and Johnson & Johnson.

The company was founded in 2013 and is headquartered in San Mateo, California, with a research and development center located in the greater Tel Aviv metropolitan area. Applitools has raised more than $46 million to date.
