Video Company Kultura Acquires Interactive Video Startup Rapt Media

New York-headquartered video creation and distribution company Kaltura Inc. has acquired Boulder, Colorado-based interactive video startup Rapt Media Inc., the companies announced Friday.
Kaltura employs 450 people according to information from Seattle-based market research company Pitchbook Data inc. The company has raised about $166 milion to date from investors including Goldman Sachs, Intel Capital, Nexus Venture Partners, Menlo Park, California-based Mitsui & Co. Global Investment, and La Jolla.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Following the acquisition, Rapt Media became a subsidiary of Kaltura, which will now gain access to Rapt Media’s existing clients, which include eBay, Dell EMC and Daimler AG's Mercedes-Benz.

Founded in 2006, with additional offices in London, San Francisco, Sao Paulo, and Ramat Gan, a town in the greater Tel Aviv metropolitan area, Kaltura develops and markets a video creation, management, and distribution platform. Customers include Warner Brothers, HBO, Intel, Bank of America, Stanford University, and Columbia University.

Rapt Media, founded in 2011 as FlixMaster, develops a system for the creation of interactive videos that allows companies to monitor and analyze user responses, for marketing, educational and human resource purposes.
