The service, provided by California-based satellite broadband company ViaSat, will offer passengers three service packages
Israeli air carrier El Al Israel Airlines Ltd. is the latest in a long list of airlines to offer an in-flight WiFi service. Following a pilot period that began in 2016, El Al officially launched the service at a ceremony at Ben Gurion International airport on Tuesday, debuting it on a flight from Tel Aviv to Paris. The service, provided by Carlsbad, California-based satellite broadband company ViaSat Inc., will be available on all El Al flights to and from Europe. According to El Al’s website, passengers will be able to choose between three different packages: a basic free package that gives users access to email, Whatsapp, Facebook’s Messenger and El Al’s website from any mobile device; a $9.99 package that also supports access to all websites and apps as well as streaming videos of up to three minutes on mobile devices; and a $19.99 package, which will also allow passengers to connect using a laptop, stream music and full-length movies, and use a VPN service.
