British Energy Company Centrica Leads Round for Electric Vehicle Charging Network
Tel Aviv-based Driivz develops and sells an electric vehicle charging network management software

British energy company Centrica PLC has co-led a $12 million round for electric vehicle charging company Driivz Ltd., Centrica announced Monday. London-based investment firm Ombu Group Ltd. was the other leader for the investment.

Founded in 2012, Driivz develops and sells a cloud-based electric vehicle charging network management software. According to company statements, over 200,000 drivers make use of the service, which promises to be an end-to-end solution for network operators and car manufacturers. The company is based in Tel Aviv with corporate headquarters in Sherman Oaks, California.

The investment is a "key opportunity for Centrica to support growing customer demand and work in partnership with Driivz to explore new offers for customers that connect home, work and on-the-road car charging, while also evaluating the role of electric vehicles and potential vehicle-to-grid applications as part of the future energy landscape,” said in a statement Jonathan Tudor, director of technology and innovation strategy for Centrica's innovation arm, through which the investment was made.

Following the investment, Centrica will also integrate Driivz's platform into an intelligent electric vehicle charging service for organizations.
