Tel Aviv University Partners With Chinese University on New Center for Collaborative Research
TAU and the Tsinghua Berkeley Shenzhen Institute (TBSI) unveiled their new center in Shenzhen Saturday

Tel Aviv University (TAU), Beijing-based Tsinghua University, and Hong Kong-based Morningside Group Ltd. held the third annual China Israel Innovation Forum in Shenzhen on Friday and Saturday. The three have been collaborating on the joint venture since 2016.

During Saturday’s event, TAU and the Tsinghua Berkeley Shenzhen Institute (TBSI) presented their new center in Shenzhen for collaborative research. The new center will serve as a gateway for startups coming out of Ramot, TAU’s technology transfer company, according to TAU, and for startups funded by TAU Ventures, the university’s early-stage venture capital fund. It will also assist Chinese companies looking to set foot in the Israeli market.

Established in 2014, the Tsinghua Berkeley Shenzhen Institute (TBSI) is a joint research and educational partnership established in 2014 by the UC Berkeley, Tsinghua University, and the Shenzhen municipal government. The headquarters of TBSI are located in the Nanshan Intelligence Industrial Park, with offices and laboratories in the Graduate School at Shenzhen, Tsinghua University, and UC Berkeley.

Tel Aviv University is Israel’s largest university, with around 30,000 students across 128 schools and departments. On Monday, TAU Ventures announced the launch of the second cycle of The Xcelerator, its joint incubation program with The Israel Security Agency.
