Powtoon Acquires Showbox

Both companies offer tools that help people create professional-looking video content

Video and animation creation company Powtoon Ltd. has acquired cloud-based video platform Showbox.com, the companies announced Thursday. The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the deal.

Founded in 2012 and based in Tel Aviv, Showbox.com develops video creation tools, including the dynamic green screen technology which can grant a professional studio quality to home videos. The company and has six video technology patents. The company has raised $12.4 million in funding.

Tel Aviv-based PowToon offers software that lets novices create professional-looking animated videos. Founded in 2012, the company reports more than 25 million users worldwide. In recent months, Powtoon announced partnerships with YouTube, Adobe, Microsoft, and Salesforce.

 

Powtoon has offices in London, Tel Aviv, San Francisco, and Ukraine.
