Israel-based contact management startup Keepin App Ltd. intends to give individuals and companies the ability to control the way their contact details show up on other users’ phones. No more “James dog walker,” or “Michael loud neighbor” for you—from now on, everyone will have your full name and current work title at hand at all times, like a business card you can constantly update.

“We put the control over your contact information back in your hands,” Keepin co-founder and CEO Alon Sudri said in a phone interview with Calcalist last week.

Unlike similar mobile apps, Keepin does not try to guess your name according to information associated with your phone number or by crawling social media services. Instead, it lets each person update his or her own information.

In addition to contact list management, Keepin also offers different ways to message and call contacts and a feed streaming your contacts’ new information as they update it.

Keepin’s GDPR-compliant app also appeals to businesses and entrepreneurs, co-founder Zachi Zach said in the interview. It is a powerful networking tool that lets you maintain connections while avoiding contacting the wrong people due to outdated information, he added.

“You can take all the contacts you collected over the years and rearrange them in groups according to their current fields, so you’ll know you’re contacting the right people and keeping in touch with your network,” Sudri said.

Founded in 2018 and working out of Herzliya, a town in the Tel Aviv area, Keepin plans to bring its app to the iOS and Android app stores within the next few weeks.
