“Every sector is at a disruption today, as we see all these rising new technologies changing consumers preferences and habits, and changing relations with the physical environment,” said Jay Jacobs, the head of research and strategy at Global X on Tuesday at Calcalist and Bank Leumi’s Mind the Tech NY 2021 conference.
Arguing that the investment world has become dependent on data and history, Jacobs explained how he looks forward. “This is where thematic investing comes in. It is really a rigorous approach to investing, where we try to identify from the top down what are the powerful trends that change the economy today, and from the bottom up what are the companies that stand to benefit from the materialization of these trends,” he said

“How is this different from other investment approaches,” Jacobs explained. “It is long-term oriented, it is unconstrained, we do not care if a company is an Israeli AI company or an American AI company, or a Chinese AI company. Why should we care, we are betting on the growth of artificial intelligence, no matter where that is happening.”
“We also tend to be very concentrated in what we are looking at, we only want these companies that are really leading in their fields,” he concluded.
