Meta’s Israeli development center moving to new Tel Aviv headquarters
The company’s new 51,000-square-meter space will house key AI and VR initiatives.
Meta's development center in Israel will relocate to Landmark Towers after the Passover holiday later this month, Calcalist has learned. The company will vacate the 12 floors it currently rents in the Azrieli Sarona Towers and move into 13 floors in the nearby Landmark Towers on Ha’Arba Street in Tel Aviv.
In April 2022, Meta signed an agreement with AFI Properties and Melisron to lease 20 floors in the Landmark project for approximately NIS 100 million ($27 million) per year. In June 2023, Meta informed its R&D employees that it would leave its offices in Azrieli Sarona in the first half of 2025 and move into 13 floors in Landmark. The remaining seven floors will be subleased to other tenants.
Meta currently employs approximately 1,000 people in Israel and is expected to expand its local R&D workforce following the move. The company’s Israeli R&D center is responsible for several strategic initiatives, including generative AI (GenAI) developments, virtual and augmented reality (AR/VR) technologies, advertising and awareness products, and more. In addition to the new offices in Landmark, Meta will continue operating its offices at Rothschild 22 in Tel Aviv, where its business teams manage marketing activities and support startup growth.
The Landmark Complex, designed by Yashar Architects, spans approximately 13 dunams and features two towers, each around 40 stories tall, with a total area of approximately 160,000 square meters. Of this, 140,000 square meters are designated for offices, 7,000 square meters for commercial space, and 100 residential units spread across ten floors. The area leased by Meta covers 51,000 square meters, with approximately 32,000 square meters allocated for employee use—an increase from the 29,000 square meters it currently occupies in Azrieli Sarona.
