Mind the Tech London 2024
"2023 was a record year in the volume of trade between Israel and Great Britain"

Matan Safran, Israel’s Economic Attaché to London, said on the opening night of Calcalist and Bank Leumi’s Mind the Tech London conference that the trade between the countries amounted to 6.4 billion pounds. Calcalist CEO Noa Tamir: "We are united by our passion for creation, by love for innovation and our shared hope for the future."

"Being here tonight is not a matter of course. The situation in Israel is difficult, and the challenges we face are great, and yet, despite everything, we gathered together with the Israeli high-tech community, when we are all united by our passion for creativity, our love for innovation and our shared hope for the future," said Noa Tamir , CEO of Calcalist, on the opening night of Calcalist and Bank Leumi’s Mind the Tech London conference.
Tamir added that "Israel's story is a story of overcoming difficulties, of turning challenges into opportunities. And it is in this spirit that we gather tonight - with hearts full of hope for a better future, for continued growth, and for a prosperous Israel that continues to inspire the world. Thank you for being here, for believing in the potential of what we can achieve together, and that you are a part of this amazing journey. I want us all to raise a glass to the return of the abductees, to the success and resilience of the State of Israel, and to the unbreakable link between the Israeli ecosystem and the British ecosystem."

Matan Safran, Israel’s Economic Attaché to London, also spoke and said: "A week ago I came across a sermon by a well-known rabbi, in which he said that the essence of Judaism is the constant tension between the world as it is and the world as it should be. He spoke about Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) and the various actions we do for this purpose, such as helping the weak and dealing with injustices, and I want to add to this another dimension - innovation, and especially Israeli innovation. I see it as the exact bridge to this issue - how to make the world the way it should be. I see my role here, among other things, as someone who helps bring Israeli innovation to Britain and create the connection between Israeli and British companies, in a variety of ways, starting with locating investments and assisting with business connections."
Safran added that "the year 2023 was a record year in the volume of trade between the two countries, which amounted to 6.4 billion pounds, in pharma, defense, technologies and food products. As of today, 400 Israeli companies have established offices in the UK in a variety of fields, including cyber, fintech, artificial intelligence and life sciences."
According to Safran, "Despite what we see on the surface, trade is very strong and we are sure that it will remain strong. The free trade area agreement that is being negotiated is an example of the cooperation between governments, and I am sure that with the help of the companies and the audience present at this event, we will be able to bridge the gap between the world as it is now and the world we would like it to be, a world of technological efficiency, a healthier and more just world, and a world where all our abductees are back home"
