Air Doctor lands $20 million Series B to connect travelers and doctors
The Israeli startup connects travelers abroad to a global network of over 20,000 doctors and specialists who speak multiple languages, and it already operates in 84 countries.
Air Doctor, a company focused on making medical services accessible to travelers abroad, has completed a $20 million fundraising round led by the aMoon fund, with participation from strategic investors Tokyo Marine Holdings, Samsung Ventures, and existing shareholders Lightspeed Venture Partners, Vintage Investment Partners, Phoenix Insurance, and Munich Re Ventures.
This Series B round is aimed at supporting the company's continued global expansion, including into Asia. With this round, Air Doctor’s total fundraising now stands at $50 million, marking its first capital raise since the extension of its Series A round in 2022. Founded in 2018 by Jenny Cohen Derfler (CEO), Efrat Sagi Ofir, Yam Derfler and Yegor Kurbachev, Air Doctor currently employs 75 people at its offices in Beit Nekofa.
Air Doctor connects travelers abroad to a global network of over 20,000 doctors and specialists who speak multiple languages, and it already operates in 84 countries. The app allows travelers to easily find a doctor while abroad. According to Air Doctor, its platform has contributed to a 50% reduction in claim costs for medical treatments for insurance companies and a 75% reduction in treatment time for each medical case. The app, which is currently in use by Phoenix Insurance in Israel, has increased its customer base by 2.5 times over the past year.
In 2024, the tourism sector saw a 40% surge in the number of people planning to travel abroad compared to 2023. Despite this growth, many travelers express concerns about illness or health issues while abroad. Approximately 75% of travelers cite getting sick or injured during or before the trip as their primary concern for upcoming journeys.
