Nvidia donates $15 million to non-profits amidst war
Thousands of employees from 30 different countries donated $5 million, an amount that was tripled by Nvidia with an additional $10 million donation
Since October 7, the many multinational technology companies with offices in Israel have issued a series of statements offering support and substantial financial assistance not only to the company's employees but also to various entities in Israel. On Sunday, Nvidia, the world’s largest chip company and one of the leading employers in the local market, announced that it and its employees are donating $15 million to non-profit organizations – the largest donation raised by Nvidia in its 30 years of operation.
Thousands of employees from 30 different countries donated $5 million, an amount that was tripled by Nvidia with an additional $10 million donation, as part of a unique fundraising campaign set up to support those affected by the war. The company is not the only one that has stood out since the beginning of the war in supporting the Israeli community; other companies such as Intel and Microsoft have also provided significant amounts to the company's employees and the community.
Nvidia currently employs about 3,200 people in Israel. Since the acquisition of the Israeli company Mellanox in 2017, Israel has become one of the company's strategic centers. The company's value towards the end of this year is about $1.21 trillion, positioning it as the largest chip company in the world.
The donations from the company's employees are intended for non-profit organizations operating in the region, based on the employees' choices. These organizations include United Hatzalah, the Jewish Agency for Israel, the JGive fund, Magen David Adom, Zaka, Doctors Without Borders, IsraAID Global Humanitarian Assistance, World Central Kitchen, and more. In addition, Nvidia has so far donated hundreds of laptop computers to families evacuated from the northern and southern borders of Israel. They have also converted the "Gamla" restaurant at the company's offices in Yokneam into a cooking kitchen, from which over 15,000 hot meals have been donated so far.
