IBM helping companies "figure out" how to use GenAI safely
Aya Soffer, Director at IBM Israel Research Lab, spoke to CTech at AIsrael 2024 about generative AI and correct governance around its use.

“We're at the beginning of a significant next step in the AI revolution around generative AI. And as companies are very interested in finding out how they can use this technology, we also understand it has many drawbacks and many weaknesses,” said Aya Soffer, Director at IBM Israel Research Lab. “As organizations start to use this technology, what they should do is figure out how they can do this safely.”
Soffer joined CTech to discuss the concept of AI governance at Calcalist and Microsoft’s AIsrael 2024 event in Israel. According to Soffer, it is essential to consider the internal policies of the organization to determine how and where the technology can be used.
“Where am I allowed to use this technology and where am I not allowed to use the technology?” She asked. “And more importantly, what are the guardrails, what are the measures that I need to take as an organization to make sure that I am using this technology in a trusted way?”
