A new Wiz? Roi Tiger’s secretive cyber startup raising $55M at sky-high valuation
The funding comes just weeks after Tiger, a former Meta engineering VP and founder of Onavo, raised $20 million in Seed funding for the stealth startup.
Israeli entrepreneur and former Meta engineering executive Roi Tiger is raising $55 million for a stealth cybersecurity startup. According to the Business Insider and The Information, the company is being valued at $400 million in the round, which is being led by Greenoaks.
The funding follows closely on the heels of a $20 million Seed round raised just weeks ago from top-tier investors, including Sequoia, Index Ventures, and Cyberstarts. All three were also investors in Wiz, which was acquired by Google for $32 billion last week. While spokespeople for Tiger and Greenoaks declined to comment, and the early investors did not respond to inquiries, the rapid capital influx underscores the immense investor appetite for Israeli cybersecurity firms.
Tiger is the co-founder of Onavo, which was acquired by Meta (then Facebook) in 2013. He left Meta in 2022 after leading engineering for commerce across the company. He has founded his new startup together with Pini Pinhasov, a co-founder of Medigate that was acquired by Claroty for $400 million in 2021, Ophir Arie, also formerly of Medigate and Claroty, and Omer Singer, former Head of Cybersecurity Strategy at Snowflake.
The surge in funding for Tiger’s venture comes in the wake of Alphabet’s landmark acquisition of Wiz, a record-breaking deal that has sent ripples through the cybersecurity investment landscape.
Israeli-founded cybersecurity companies have drawn billions in venture capital over the past decade, with their founders often leveraging elite military intelligence experience and deep expertise in digital security. While Tiger’s new company remains under wraps, the speed and scale of its fundraising suggest that investors see it as a potential major player in the space.
While details about the new startup remain scarce, the company’s valuation in the hundreds of millions suggests that it is aiming to address critical cybersecurity challenges, likely in cloud security, enterprise protection, or AI-driven threat detection.
The news on Tiger's new startup comes shortly after Calcalist revealed that another stealth Israeli cyber startup, Vega Security, managed to raise $65 million in two rapid funding rounds.
Vega Security was founded in early 2024 by Shay Sandler and Eli Rozen, two relatively unknown executives in the cybersecurity industry. The company’s valuation in the first round was estimated at $200 million—a remarkably high figure for an initial funding round—and in the second round, which is still ongoing, the valuation is expected to double or even exceed that figure.
