“Today, already, our AI transcription does a better job than human transcription, which is amazing, and it continues to evolve and learn,” said Yair Amsterdam, CEO and Board Member at Verbit at AI 2024. “Our AI is getting better and that we transcribe with a higher quality and higher accuracy.”
Verbit is well known among academics, journalists, and countless other professionals for its transcription service. Today it is one of the largest captaining and transcription companies in the world, providing its services to major events like the Super Bowl and, more recently, the presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden.
“It's quite a tough job,” he said. “We saw tweets saying, ‘The captioner has the hardest time’ or ‘You're not doing a good job!’ And actually it was AI and it was more accurate than human captioning.”
Verbit’s next step will be in legaltech, where it is convincing lawyers to rely on its technology for accurate transcriptions of depositions witness sentiments, or provide real-time fact-checking or contradictions in court. However, much like quoting political candidates, the urgency is in how reliable the service can be.
“You have to be very careful and very accurate at what you do,” added Amsterdam. “Okay. You have to, first we can provide a level of confidence that we have… And then you want to be very careful… You have to be very careful in how you provide the information.”
