Pentera lays off another 60 employees in second round of cuts in four months
The latest cuts affect about 60 employees, including 30 in Israel, bringing the total number of layoffs since April to roughly 100, or 20% of Pentera’s workforce, even as the company continues hiring for AI-related positions.
Cybersecurity company Pentera announced to employees on Monday that it is carrying out another round of layoffs, affecting approximately 60 employees, Calcalist has learned. The cuts come just four months after the company laid off about 40 employees in April.
Together, the two rounds amount to approximately 100 employees, or about 20% of Pentera's workforce of 470. Around 30 employees being laid off in the current round are based in Israel, in addition to approximately 20 Israeli employees who were affected by the previous round.
The latest cuts are expected to affect all departments, including research and development. At the same time, Pentera plans to continue recruiting employees with relevant experience in artificial intelligence, reflecting the company's shift toward AI-based cybersecurity solutions.
In March 2025, Pentera raised approximately $60 million in a Series D funding round, bringing the company's total capital raised to approximately $250 million. The company also surpassed $100 million in annual revenue and completed two strategic acquisitions, DevOcean and EVA Information Security.
Pentera has recently expanded its international presence, opening offices in Colorado and Madrid, in addition to its existing operations in the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Germany and Boston.
The layoffs reflect a shift in the company's priorities in response to changes in the cybersecurity market. Over the past year, Pentera has focused increasingly on developing AI-based solutions for cybersecurity validation and testing.
The company recently added AI capabilities to its web application testing platform, designed to simulate human behavior, and expanded its ransomware-resilience testing capabilities. Last week, Pentera also announced a cooperation and technology integration agreement with cybersecurity company Recorded Future.
In a statement, Pentera said the changes were driven by the rapid development and adoption of artificial intelligence.
“Pentera is preparing for the rapid changes taking place in the market against the backdrop of the dramatic increase in artificial intelligence capabilities and the adoption of AI-based solutions,” the company said.
“Accordingly, we are completing the transformation of the company's platform and making it AI-native in order to provide our customers with solutions adapted to the challenges of AI, while integrating artificial intelligence into all our work processes.”
The company said the restructuring was necessary to allow it to move quickly as its priorities change.
“In order to meet these goals and continue to grow and move quickly, we are unfortunately forced to say goodbye to employees who have contributed greatly to the company,” Pentera said.
