Inside Google’s decision to invest in Israeli startups after October 7
Google’s Hanit Marinov and MagniLearn’s Lana Tockus-Rappoport joined CTech at Calcalist’s Mind The Tech NY to discuss Google’s new fund to help Israeli startups
“The decision that we want to support the ecosystem came when we realized that right now there is a specific situation in Israel for startups, and the ecosystem is having challenges in raising money and keeping the engine of the ecosystem of the Startup Nation moving,” explained Hanit Marinov, Country Marketing Manager at Google. She is referencing the latest AI fund established by the tech giant to help struggling Israeli startups by offering financial support and access to its cloud ecosystem. “We wanted to create an equity-free fund that will make sure that the next generation of startups will keep on growing in Israel.”
One of the recipients is MagniLearn, a company that transforms learning efficiency via precise knowledge tracking and true personalization. Lana Tockus-Rappoport also joined to share the experience so far.
“In today's ever-changing world of artificial intelligence, having a strong partner with expertise in machine learning and large language model cloud infrastructure is mandatory; and using scalable platforms and expertise would allow us to train our models to meet specific requirements and also keep data safety for our customers,” Tockus-Rappoport explained. “In addition, our mission of transforming the education and making it more personalized and efficient aligns perfectly with Google Education's philosophy… and its vast network of partners, customers, and investors is extremely important for us.”
