"Japan may be 'The Land of the Rising Sun', but Israel is 'The Land of Rising innovation'"
Discount Tech CEO Guy Navon shared his insights with CTech at the Israel-Japan Conference in Tokyo. "Our aim is to narrow the bridge between the Israelis and the Japanese in order to do more business together"

"Discount Tech is the banking division of Discount Bank for technology companies," Guy Navon, CEO of Discount Tech, explained to CTech at the Israel-Japan Conference in Tokyo. "Our aim is to narrow the bridge between the Israelis and the Japanese in order to do more business together."
Regarding the differences between the Israeli and Japanese mentality, Navon said: "For example, if you come to an Israeli cybersecurity startup and ask them if they can do something specific they will often answer, 'Yes we can, but it's in process. We'll do it later.' However, the Japanese are looking for ready-made process and product market fit. This is the type of gap we are trying to bridge."
When asked by CTech why there has been an increase in Israel-Japan business collaborations in recent years, Navon answered: "For the last 10 years the Japanese have been looking for external innovation and have invested a lot of money in that. Japan may be 'The Land of the Rising Sun', but Israel is 'The Land of Rising innovation'."
