“Generative AI has shuffled the cards on everything”
Liron Azrielant, Founder and Managing Partner at venture capital firm Meron Capital, spoke to CTech at Calcalist’s Tech on the Beach event about how AI is changing the technological landscape
“We are looking at how generative AI has shuffled the cards on everything, making a lot of companies at risk at having their technology commoditized, but then giving way to a lot of new companies to form,” said Liron Azrielant, Founder and Managing Partner at venture capital firm Meron Capital.
Meron is an early stage VC fund, seeking early stage startups developing core software technologies in Israel, Europe and the U.S. Meron has invested in 24 companies to date, including Mesh Payments, which ranked in 9th place in Calcalist’s recent list of the 50 most promising startups in Israel. The fund’s main areas of focus are fintech, digital health, IoT, enterprise software, SaaS, cybersecurity and information technologies, and recently also climatech, bringing in venture partner Gil Shai to focus on the sector.
“Climate is something that we always wanted to invest in, but we never felt that the industry and macro conditions were there. But we are feeling that regulation is moving forward to the point where it makes financial sense to invest and the ecosystem is developing to a point where it is mature enough to develop strong climatech founders,” noted Azrielant.
