Venture investment platform OurCrowd has announced the appointment of Or Alon as Partner and Head of Funds. The Funds Division is a key component in the OurCrowd Platform, alongside the company’s well known direct investment activities in startups via SPV’s (Special Purpose Vehicles) which now numbers 460 companies and $1.5 billion in assets.
Approximately $800 million of assets are in the Funds Division across four types of funds, which will now be managed by Alon:
  • Externally-Led GP Funds – OurCrowd has raised $237 million, investing in 30 venture capital funds, led by external independent GP’s including well known firms such as Blumberg Capital, Glilot+, 10D, F2 Capital, Tech Aviv, USVP, Proof, Maniv Mobility, Draper, Rebel, Soma Capital, and more.
  • Internally-Led GP Funds – OurCrowd raises funds for specific sectors (AI, Cybersecurity, Foodtech, etc.), diversified portfolio and Index funds like OC50, as well as bi-national funds, the Israel Resilience Fund and more. In this area, OurCrowd has raised $420 million across 21 funds.
  • Alternative Investment Funds – OurCrowd has raised almost $60 million across seven funds, including Arrow Capital, New Mountain Capital, Upper90, and more, for investment in Private Equity, Venture Debt, and Venture Credit funds.
  • Co-investments – OurCrowd partners with external venture capital funds in co-investments. OurCrowd has co-invested $144 million in 75 companies across 96 rounds with its venture capital partners alongside leading investors such as Andreesen Horowitz and Sequoia.
Alon joined OurCrowd in 2021, initially serving as VP responsible for Venture Lending and later overseeing alternative investments. With the expansion of the funds division, OurCrowd appointed him as Partner, managing the entire funds platform. Prior to joining OurCrowd, Alon served as VP at Silicon Valley Bank’s Israel branch.
“OurCrowd’s growing funds division enriches and enhances the investment opportunities for our 240,000 accredited investors and boosts the platform’s overall growth potential,” said Or Alon, Partner and Head of Funds at OurCrowd. “The alternative investments sector, relatively new to us, offers significant opportunities, and we plan to expand in this area substantially in the near future, alongside the growth of our other fund types. Our deep partnerships with venture capital funds, including co-investments, are a major catalyst for additional high-quality investments and are synergistic with our existing investment activities. I am excited to lead this strategic effort at OurCrowd together with my colleagues.”
OurCrowd was named Israel’s most active venture capital investor in the first 9 months of 2024 by the Q3 Israel Tech EcoSystem Report by Startup Nation Central and KPMG. The report credited OurCrowd with 65 new investments, more than 3 times its nearest competitor. According to PitchBook, OurCrowd has been Israel’s most active venture capital investment platform since its founding in 2013.
