Ex-Gett CEO Dave Waiser raises $46M for Accumulator to help founders navigate illiquid wealth
The equity pooling platform, already valued at $140M, aims to transform how founders access liquidity.
Equity fund Accumulator, founded by serial Israeli entrepreneur Dave Waiser, has raised $46 million in a funding round that values the company at $140 million. The firm aims to address a common but often overlooked challenge in the tech startup ecosystem: founders’ inability to convert their equity into liquid, diversified assets.
Waiser, who previously founded and led the ride-hailing platform Gett for more than a decade, launched Accumulator to create a platform for entrepreneurs facing the constraints of illiquid “paper wealth.” The company offers founders an avenue to pool their equity into investment funds targeting private tech companies, allowing them to both diversify their holdings and access some liquidity.
Waiser explains how at Gett he navigated the challenges of scaling a global business while balancing personal financial constraints. That experience, he says, underscored the need for a solution that would help founders manage the financial risks tied to concentrated equity holdings.
"Our mission is to unite the greatest doers of our time," said Dave Waiser, Founder of Accumulator and Managing Partner of its Founders Fund. "More than 12,000 founders have built companies worth over $100 million each. Together, they're impacting 5 billion people and generating $1 trillion in revenues. We aim to unite them all, fostering a global community among unicorn founders."
Accumulator’s approach is based on equity pooling, where founders contribute shares in exchange for participation in a fund investing in other private companies. This structure not only provides liquidity but also spreads risk across a broader portfolio.
The firm began operations in stealth mode and has since launched three funds with more than $60 million in assets under management. The $46 million it has raised comes from prominent entrepreneurs and investors, including Filip Dames, co-founder of Zalando, and Avishai Abrahami, co-founder of Wix.
Building on its initial focus on founders, Accumulator recently launched a fund aimed at angel investors, who often face similar challenges with illiquid investments. The Angels Fund II allows investors to pool their gains from individual startups and reinvest them into a diversified portfolio.
