Unistream CEO: "We are building the next generation of Israeli tech"
Ifat Bechor, CEO of Unistream, spoke to CTech at Unistream’s Entrepreneur of the Year competition about the long-term impact of mentoring youth entrepreneurs
“This is the largest entrepreneurship competition for youth in Israel. We have it every year. What you see here is over 100 ventures, startup creations of over 1,000 participants from all over the country,” said Unistream CEO Ifat Bechor, speaking to CTech at Unistream’s Entrepreneur of the Year competition. “This event is the peak event of a year-long, amazing hard work that we do with over 3,500 teenagers across Israel.”
“Unistream works with teenagers from the geographic and social periphery in order to give them the practical tools for success in life, for great employment, and we do it using entrepreneurship as a life-changing experience, as a methodology. We have over 400 people that represent Israel's top business community, public sector, academia that came here to see them and over 1,000 guests that came to see and share this amazing energy that we all want and need these days,” said Bechor.
Bechor noted the importance of providing exposure to entrepreneurship and mentorship to communities in the country that often have less access to these spheres. “We are building with the business sector the next generation, not only of entrepreneurs and great employees, but young professionals who are very aware of being sensitive to each other, and being tolerant.”
However, Bechor is quick to point out that this isn’t a one-way street; when professionals volunteer their time to mentor these students, they are mentoring the future workforce. “They're actually nurturing the next generation of amazing employees for the tech community. So it's really win-win for all sides. And, I think that you can see it also with the fact that more young professionals from Arab society or from the religious community integrate after youth programs like Unistream in the most amazing tech companies in Israel.”
