Lenovo acquires enterprise storage company Infinidat in its first Israeli acquisition
The Chinese tech giant plans to establish a development center in Israel, expanding Infinidat’s team and strengthening its global storage solutions portfolio.
The Chinese technology giant Lenovo has acquired the Israeli enterprise storage company Infinidat. While the purchase amount has not been disclosed, Infinidat, founded in 2011, has raised $350 million to date and was last valued at over $1 billion.
This acquisition is Lenovo’s first in Israel and marks a rare move by a Chinese tech giant in the country in recent years. As part of the deal, Lenovo plans to establish a development center in Israel, expanding its presence in the region.
Infinidat, known for its high-end enterprise storage solutions, employs 500 people, including 300 in Israel. All employees are expected to retain their roles, and Lenovo has announced plans to significantly expand the local team. The company, which reports annual sales in the hundreds of millions of dollars, is currently profitable.
Infinidat provides enterprises and service providers with a native primary and secondary storage platform, known as InfiniVerse. The platform is designed to support modern workloads across on-premises and hybrid multi-cloud environments.
Lenovo stated that the acquisition aligns with its growth strategy and bolsters its enterprise storage offerings.
“Lenovo offers a comprehensive range of storage solutions with a customer-centric, data-first approach to address diverse enterprise needs,” said Greg Huff, Chief Technology Officer of Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group. “With the acquisition of Infinidat, we are excited to accelerate innovation and deliver greater value to our customers. Infinidat’s expertise in high-performance, high-end data storage solutions enhances our product portfolio, opening new opportunities for growth.”
“Infinidat delivers award-winning enterprise storage solutions that provide an exceptional customer experience with guaranteed SLAs, unmatched performance, availability, cyber resilience, and cost efficiency at petabyte scale,” said Phil Bullinger, CEO of Infinidat. “With Lenovo’s extensive global capabilities, we look forward to broadening the value we offer to enterprise and service provider customers across on-premises and hybrid multi-cloud environments.”
Lenovo, a global technology powerhouse with $57 billion in annual revenue, is ranked number 248 on the Fortune Global 500 list.
