Prompt Security raises $18 million Series A to protect enterprises from GenAI risks

The Israeli startup’s platform safeguards organizations from shadow AI, prompt injections, and other emerging threats specific to generative AI tools.

Cybersecurity startup Prompt Security, which develops a platform to protect enterprises from GenAI threats, has raised $18 million in a Series A funding round. The round was led by Jump Capital and included participation from existing investor Hetz Ventures, as well as new investors such as Ridge Ventures, and major technology companies Okta and F5. This funding, raised just 10 months after its Seed round, brings the company’s total investment to $23 million.
Prompt Security was founded in August 2023 by Itamar Golan (CEO) and Lior Drihem (CTO), both graduates of Israel’s elite 8200 Unit and experts in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. Itamar previously founded the AI divisions at Check Point and Orca Security, while Lior served as Director of Innovation at Check Point before joining Orca Security alongside Itamar.

Prompt Security enables enterprises to safely adopt GenAI by protecting applications, employees, and customers from a wide range of AI-specific risks. It inspects every prompt and model response to prevent data leaks, block harmful content, and secure against GenAI-specific attacks like shadow AI, prompt injections or jailbreaks. The platform offers full visibility, governance, and policy enforcement over AI tools used within the organization, with flexible deployment options to serve any organization’s use case. Notably, Prompt Security was the first to offer complete security and governance of Copilot for Microsoft 365 with its lightweight agent.
The company’s platform is currently used by several Fortune 500 companies, with clients including Royal Caribbean, Riskified, Elementor, 10x Banking, St. Joseph's Healthcare, and Upstream Security. Prompt Security employs 30 staff members across its offices in Israel and the U.S. and is actively expanding, with plans to hire additional employees.
"As enterprise adoption of GenAI accelerates, so do the associated risks. This new investment strengthens our mission to help organizations safely deploy and use advanced AI tools while protecting against their unique vulnerabilities," said Golan. "Since our launch in January this year, Prompt Security has quintupled its revenue and doubled its customer base."
