Sony Semiconductor Israel: “We will see more compute going into the edge”
CEO Nohik Semel spoke to CTech at Tech TLV about the differences in some of modern-day computing.
“At least in the domain that we operate in, I believe we will see more compute going into the edge, meaning distributed computing, for the simple reason that cloud compute is very expensive,” said Nohik Semel, CEO at Sony Semiconductor Israel. “There are some issues around security and privacy. So as you move ahead more, the computer will move to the edge.”
Semel made the comments during Tech TLV, the annual conference from Calcalist and Bank Leumi. He joined CTech soon after the American government imposed last-minute regulations on AI chips, causing headaches for some leading tech companies. According to Semel, it won’t impact Sony too much since they operate on the edge and not the cloud entirely.
“On the IoT side, I believe that we will see more devices are connected not just in the B2BB2C space but also in the B2B space. So and that is the exactly the domains we operate in,” he added.
