“You need to wake up in the morning with some feeling of wanting to keep yourself going, and I think the strength of Israeli tech has been something that not only plays a key role for everyone who's participating in this conference today, but in the entire economy as a whole,” says Founder and Managing Partner of Sunvest Capital Partners Fiona Darmon, speaking to CTech at Calcalist’s Tech TLV event in Tel Aviv.
Darmon co-founded Sunvest Capital along with Merav Weinryb last year. They are two of the most well-known female investors in Israel, with Darmon previously serving as General Partner at JVP and Weinryb serving as VP and Managing Director at Qualcomm Ventures. Sunvest focuses on secondary investments in Israeli VC funds and portfolio companies.
Regarding the impact of the war on how Israel’s tech sector is viewed internationally, Darmon says that although we're dealing with the role that the war is playing in global perception, there is a major digital transformation going on.
“Now every single industry, every single category, requires innovation, requires AI, requires the ability to predict, requires the ability to defend with cyber. I think that that unique ability of Israeli startups to come together, bootstrap, innovate, and then go raise the money and deliver is something that means that maybe now more than ever, we will probably see an emergence of tremendous innovation.”
