Political layers may change but UK-Israel tech relationships remain
Keren Shurkin, Director of the UK-Israel Tech Hub at the British Embassy in Israel, spoke to CTech at Calcalist and Bank Leumi’s Mind the Tech conference in London about the enduring relationship between British and Israeli tech.
“We’ve built our operation around the belief that if we get early-stage technologies working with enterprise in the UK, for UK partners to work together with Israelis on these products, then that will lead to long-term partnerships and social and institutional partnerships,” says UK-Israel Tech Hub at the British Embassy in Israel Director Keren Shurkin to CTech at Calcalist and Bank Leumi’s Mind the Tech conference in London. “When you’re building long-term relationships these are the ones that will remain, because the political ones will change.”
The UK-Israel Tech Hub was established to build strong relations between the Israeli and UK tech ecosystems, with a focus on bringing Israeli technology to the UK. While Shurkin acknowledges that there are challenges during this current period, she also says that the relationship between the UK and Israeli tech remains strong.
“Just over the last two months we’ve had over 15 Israeli startups apply to UK-based accelerators, we’ve introduced 3 major UK corporations to over 30 Israeli companies, and this is just over the summer.”
