SQream CEO Ami Gal steps down after 14 years
The big data analytics company has laid off about 20 employees in recent months and currently employs about 70 people, less than half of its peak workforce.
Ami Gal, CEO and one of the founders of SQream, is stepping down from his position after 14 years and joining the company's board of directors. SQream has begun a search for a new CEO.
In recent months, the company has laid off about 20 employees and currently employs about 70 people, less than half of its peak workforce.
SQream, founded in 2010 by Gal, Razi Shoshani and Kostya Varakin, develops solutions to accelerate data and analytics in big data and AI/ML workloads. It completed a $45 million Series C financing round in September 2023. The round was led by World Trade Ventures, with participation from new and current investors, including Schusterman Investments, George Kaiser Foundation (Atento), Icon Continuity Fund, Blumberg Capital, and Freddy & Helen Holdings.
SQream has raised a total of $163 million to date.
SQream’s solution allows companies to process extremely large and complex datasets faster, more cost-efficiently, using less hardware and consuming less energy than conventional big data solutions that rely strictly on CPUs. SQream’s patented GPU technology complements almost any data architecture to augment compute power and analytics velocity.
