Tricentis acquiring SeaLights in $150 million deal to expand test automation platform

The American company also purchased Israeli startup Testim for $200 million in 2022

American company Tricentis, which develops solutions in the field of software testing, has acquired the Israeli startup SeaLights. The companies did not disclose the purchase amount, but it is estimated to be around $150 million.
The field of software testing has seen record-breaking exits involving Israeli companies over the years, starting with Mercury, which was sold to HP for $4.5 billion in 2006, through to Perfecto, acquired by Perforce for $200 million in 2018, and Testim, which was purchased by Tricentis in 2022 for about $200 million.

Founded in 2015, SeaLights provides large enterprises with metrics, traceability, and insights to meet their quality gates and deliver software quickly. Using agents to map code to tests and evaluate code that has changed, SeaLights then uses machine learning (ML) to identify quality risks during software releases. This enables software development teams to focus on the minimum number of functional tests, thereby saving time and speeding up their release delivery.
Tricentis acquired SeaLights to expand its capabilities for visibility and insights into code and tests throughout the continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipeline.
SeaLights employs over 50 people in Israel and around the world who will be integrated into the acquiring company. This is Tricentis’ second acquisition in the past twelve months, following the purchase of Waldo in July 2023. Founded in 2007, Tricentis now serves more than 3,000 customers in 19 countries, including more than half of the Fortune 500.
SeaLights has raised $50 million since its establishment. Investors in the company include TLV Partners, Red Dot Capital Partners, Bloomberg Capital, and others. The company was founded in 2015 by serial entrepreneurs Eran Sher, co-founder and CEO, and Alon Eizenman, co-founder and CTO. Before SeaLights, Eran and Alon founded Nolio, which developed automation solutions for software and information systems and was acquired in 2013 by CA Technologies.
