Winning Startup: DNA-based Health Stratup Perme
Out of 200 companies, 8 made it to the startup competition finals at EY's JOURNEY conference. The first-place winner: PerMe, which developed a deep tech-based digital health platform
PerMe is the winner of the annual startup competition "The Pitch," held as part of the yearly JOURNEY conference by consulting and accounting firm EY in Tel Aviv. The final opened with remarks from Tel Aviv-Yafo Mayor Ron Huldai, who emphasized the urgent need to return the hostages and the critical connection between the city and the high-tech industry.
Eight finalists were presented after more than 200 companies applied, and 24 were selected in the competition's semi-finals, now in its 12th year. The judges were Izhar Shay, October Next; Sivan Shamri Dahan, Qumra Capital; Daniel Shinar, ClalTech; and Irit Kahan, Goldman Sachs Growth Fund.
Dr. Karina Tireill, Chief Commercial Officer, presented PerMe, a deep tech-based digital health platform focusing on DNA tests, aiming to make personalized health accessible - the competition winner. The company offers a simple, cheap, and fast single-use sensor that identifies genetic variations and provides digital results within minutes directly to the mobile phone without needing microelectronic components or a laboratory. The platform converts biological data into health recommendations. PerMe is driven by a team of experienced entrepreneurs led by Yoav Rapaport (CEO) and Prof. Gil Atzmon (Chairman of the Advisory Committee) and seeks to make DNA-based health solutions accessible to everyone. When asked by the judges, Tireill said that the priority in product sales is for the security and cosmetics industries and then for health areas requiring FDA approval.
