Yoel Bar-El appointed Chairman of the Board of Curiosity Robotics
"Yoel's extensive experience in advancing companies and leading them to significant growth and exceptional profits will help Curiosity Robotics to become an influential global brand in the field of education for children and toddlers," said co-founder Yaron Bul
Curiosity Robotics, a company that develops AI-based language-learning robots for toddlers and children, has announced that it has appointed Trax co-founder and executive chairman Yoel Bar-El Chairman of the Board.
“Despite the tremendous development that the world is experiencing, it appears that we have made very little progress in the field of education over the last two hundred years," said Yoel Bar-El. "Children today are exposed to digital stimuli from the day they are born and then expected to learn with 30-40 other children in a classroom as in the past… I am pleased to join a company that envisions a better future for global education and works diligently to promote it in all possible arenas. Therefore, I feel that joining a company that leads such a change as a personal mission, and I am thrilled to lead the shared vision."
Bar-El has founded and sold companies to international corporations for billions of dollars. Trax, a company known for its store monitoring capabilities using computer vision technology, is a unicorn where he still serves as Chairman. Before that, Bar-El served as CEO of Sentryi Limited, an asset management software company that was acquired by IRESS Limited after four years. He holds a bachelor's degree in physics from Tel Aviv University and an MBA from Harvard University.
"Yoel's extensive experience in advancing companies and leading them to significant growth and exceptional profits will help Curiosity Robotics to become an influential global brand in the field of education for children and toddlers," added Yaron Bul, Curiosity Robotics co-founder. "The company was founded to make a difference in the lives of children worldwide, and we have already reached the milestone of developing our first prototype and securing significant partners around the world. Currently, we are initiating an extensive move to enter the European and Asian markets. Bar-El's profound knowledge of marketing and regulations in international markets will provide a significant leap forward in penetrating these markets," he said.
Curiosity Robotics has developed a technological solution for early childhood learning, integrating robotic interactions with the human interaction of parents or caregivers. The platform offers an active and multi-sensory learning experience which it claims is different from passive screen-based learning. After teaching English, the company's roadmap includes expanding into maths, music, early reading, and other abilities.
