Amazon cuts 50 jobs in Israel as it winds down Ad Server operations
The global advertising unit closure is part of a wider restructuring effort.
Amazon is closing its advertising division in Israel, resulting in the layoff of around 50 employees, Calcalist has learned. The layoffs are part of a global decision by the company to phase out the Amazon Ad Server, which helps advertisers and agencies manage digital campaigns.
In early October 2023, Amazon announced it would wind down Amazon Ad Server operations worldwide by the fourth quarter of 2024. The company said at the time, "We’re always evaluating the potential of our products and services to deliver customer value, and we regularly make adjustments based on those assessments. We have shared this decision now to provide ample transition time for our customers and to support employees who may be impacted by this decision,” it said.
Amazon further clarified today: “On October 3, 2023 we announced the decision to sunset Amazon Ad Server globally in the fourth quarter of 2024, with a small number of roles impacted in multiple countries around the world. We’ve been working closely with affected employees and providing them with support, including looking for alternative roles.”
