10,000-square-meter facility to enhance Nvidia's local R&D operations.
Nvidia has announced plans to build a massive data center in Israel, spanning 10,000 square meters with a capacity of 30 megawatts. According to the company, once completed, it will be one of the largest and most powerful data centers in Israel.
Nvidia has maintained significant operations in Israel since its acquisition of Mellanox in 2020. The company’s local R&D team spearheads the development of communication systems for its chipsets, which are central to the high-capacity computing capabilities of its AI processors.
In November 2023, Nvidia launched its local supercomputer, Israel-1, which was ranked 34th on the list of the 500 fastest supercomputers globally. Now, Nvidia is making another substantial investment in Israel. Construction of the new data center is set to begin in the first half of 2025. The facility will rely on hundreds of Blackwell chip systems—Nvidia's latest and fastest AI processors—and will feature communication switches developed locally in Israel.
The new data center is designed to support Nvidia’s engineering and product teams, enabling them to develop cutting-edge hardware and software applications for communication networks, processors, AI software, and more.
"Employees are our greatest asset, and we are committed to continuing to invest in them," said Amit Krig, SVP networking software and NVIDIA-Israel site leader. "The new data center will bolster Nvidia’s existing teams in Israel and employ many new staff, allowing us to continue developing technologies that drive artificial intelligence, the most important technological force of our time."
