“Israeli companies are very interested in entering the French and European markets, and they often choose France as the door to open the European market. So my job is to help them comply with French regulation and European regulation,” said Merav Griguer, Partner at Franklin Law Firm. As someone who specializes in data privacy, cybersecurity, and the protection of personal data, Israeli companies must understand what is needed of them when they choose to work in a new market.
“They are very excited by such an adventure in France and Europe,” she told CTech's Ariela Karmel. “[But] it's not so easy. There are many obstacles. When I started to assist them 20 years ago it was very difficult for them to understand French and European culture concerning data privacy. They are at the highest level of security, of data protection as security by default… But they quickly understood it. They got it maybe better than other foreign companies.”
Griguer spoke to CTech during the Israel Business Delegation in Paris, where companies and professionals gathered to discuss collaboration between the two nations. As Paris prepares for the Sumer Olympics in the next few months, many steps are being taken to protect the country and contestants online.
“We expect more than 10 billion cyberattacks, which means 10 times more than Tokyo games,” she concluded. “So it's very important. All the companies the public organizers are prepared, but as you know, we are never prepared enough.”
