High-tech salaries fall almost 11% from record high
The average salary in tech in April of approximately $8,600 is still 7.9% higher than a year earlier
The average salary in high-tech saw a significant drop of 10.9% in April from the all-time high of NIS 35,870 ($9,718) in March to NIS 31,976 ($8,667). However, this is still a high level, 7.9% higher than April 2023's figure of NIS 29,624 ($8,029). The average salary for a programmer in April was NIS 32,737 ($8,869), and for research and development personnel, it was NIS 34,380 ($9,316).
It is likely that the drop in the average salary in high-tech significantly impacted the overall average salary data for April. Given that the average salary estimate for May indicates continued declines, it can be assumed that the average salary in high-tech also continued to fall in May. This data comes from an estimate of the average salary for May and the average salary data for previous months published by Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics.
The average wage in the economy decreased by about 1,000 shekels ($271) over the past two months. In May, it stood at NIS 13,093 ($3,548), representing a 3.1% drop compared to NIS 13,506 ($3,659) in April and a 7% decline from the all-time high of NIS 14,083 ($3,817) recorded in March.
The number of salaried jobs for Israeli workers (out of the total number of salaried jobs) was 3.989 million in May, an increase of 0.6% compared to April 2024 (3.965 million) but a decrease of 1.6% compared to May 2023 (4.053 million).
