I am thrilled and excited to open this unique meet-up, especially during these challenging times when Israel is under vicious attack almost everywhere. We do not take for granted a conference of leaders of the Israeli business community with leaders of the French business community. Thank you so much for coming tonight.
Israel is still at war. We are still mourning the victims of the October 7 massacre and our soldiers who fell in combat. We are deeply concerned about our hostages in the Hamas tunnels. We understand that the war will be longer than our hopes for a swift victory.
Despite the sorrow, pain, and rage, we must overcome the trauma and keep pushing our economy forward. Israel needs a robust and agile economy to win the war and prosper. This is why we at Calcalist have been doing our best to promote international collaboration. It is crucial, especially now.
The Israeli miracle, founded 76 years ago, achieved a historic victory over those who sought to exterminate the Jewish people. Nowadays, a toxic combination of antisemitic forces and radical Islamist regimes wishes to wipe Israel off the map. One of their efforts is a brutal attempt to hurt the Israeli economy. We will not let them succeed.
We understand why our friends are worried. The challenges are significant, but we hope decision-makers and investors continue believing in Israel. The Israeli economy's fundamentals are still strong, and the ecosystem is vibrant.
This is not the time or place to discuss our government. However, I can assure you that Israel is stronger and more resilient than any government, thanks to experienced and sophisticated business leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, and a smart, educated workforce. Yes, the Israeli miracle will prevail.
