Simplex 3D to supply a Geographic Information System to Protect Israeli Communities
The technology company enables rescue forces, first responders, and emergency teams in local authorities and municipalities to use the Simplex 3D platform and 3D models to manage and control emergency events.
Avi Aflalo, Simplex3D co-founder and CEO: "We have accurate 3D models of most cities, towns and villages in Israel. The initiative will open the technology to communities that have not yet been modeled to be up and running within a few days with a defense system to manage emergency incidents, with either a three-dimensional model or a standard map."
vulnerabilities of existing security systems and the critical need for accurate and detailed information about neighborhoods and buildings in order to protect citizens.
Simplex 3D develops systems and algorithms for 3D urban management and planning for the private, and government and defense sectors. The company is harnessing its technology for the benefit of all local authorities and communities in Israel, to strengthen the preparedness of security teams and emergency response units dealing with routine and emergency security incidents. In addition to 3D models, the Simplex 3D system provides the ability to report incidents from the field using a mobile phone, track authority's vehicle fleet using GPS and track the forces on the ground.
One of the biggest challenges facing these communities is the very essential perception of defense. Most command and control systems, even those close to the border, are not equipped with up-to-date maps of the buildings and facilities in the community. For example, this makes it difficult for them to know, before arriving to respond, how many floors there are in a building under attack, or the location and sizes of doors, windows or access points.
With the outbreak of the war, Simplex has offered its platform as well as 3D models of more than 100 cities at no charge to local authorities and emergency teams.
Now Simplex extends its offering to enable a rapid solution also where there are no 3D models and for communities that need a quick update of specific areas. This is being offered in two operational plans:
- A system with an orthophoto-based map at an extremely high resolution of 5-10 cm, since such photographs exist in Simplex for the overwhelming majority of communities in Israel.
- Produce a new three-dimensional model at sufficient resolution via cooperation between Simplex 3D and local drone operators, who are offering their services at a reduced cost. It is important to understand that it is usually necessary to carry out dedicated aircraft flights to obtain a three-dimensional model at the required resolution. This is not possible during combat. Participating drone operators are briefed so that their photographs are suitable for Simplex 3D technology. This model enables the company to help as many localities and emergency response teams as possible to prepare and respond effectively to defend their communities in an attack.
"The current situation obligates us to respond to the call of the hour,” says Avi Aflalo, Simplex 3D co-founder and CEO. “We are here to help our security forces and come to the aid of every Israeli citizen. We are offering our management and control systems to every local authority that turns to us, to defend, protect and respond to security threats and attacks.”
About Simplex 3D:
Simplex 3D was established in 2013 by Ziv Shargai and Shahar Barnea, PhD graduates in geoinformation from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, and entrepreneur Avi Aflalo. The company's technology enables viewing and working with an unprecedented 3 cm resolution, and performing accurate and high-quality modeling in a very short time thanks to the combination of aerial photography technology and automatic algorithms for 3D modeling. The company supplies the advanced systems to dozens of cities and local authorities in Israel and a number of countries across the globe. The company donated a million shekels for the benefit of these various activities. Local authorities, municipalities and communities interested in Simplex platform or in rapid 3D modeling through a dedicated local drone network are invited to contact >>
