“There is a difference right now between what employees desire and how the companies think. I think the employees have evolved faster than the leadership,” explained Stella Voulgaraki, Chief People Officer at Kaizen Gaming. Voulgaraki was talking during a panel titled: “From HR manager to Chief of Heart: the evolution of the HR world and the new challenges facing CPOs around the globe”, in which she was joined by Claude Silver, Chief Heart Officer at VaynerMedia, and Anja Leschly, Chief Human Resources Officer at Conscia. The panel was held on Wednesday as part of the WorkTech conference organized by Calcalist in partnership with HiBob.
“The employees, on the one hand, want flexibility and at the same time they want also a connection, which is a little bit conflicting,” added Voulgaraki. “And the companies on the other side, they feel a little bit stressed by this new situation and they want more control. So for me, what we are missing in companies is more leadership skills. We need to develop them more in order to handle this remote management.”
“It's all about trust,” noted Leschly. “You need to trust your employees to deliver what they're supposed to. When you, as a leadership team or CEO, provide a strategy for a company, you have to be absolutely clear and transparent as to what does that translate into, because if there's no clarity about what my role is and how I contribute to reach the goals then, of course, it gets a little bit fluffy.”

Silver elaborated on the changes taking place in order to remain competitive in the talent war.
“There is such a talent war right now. We need to make sure that we are transparent with our communication, not policing anything, but really leaving it up to our department heads and our team leads to talk to each and every person on their team and decide what is needed for the business to run profitably, successfully and enjoyably,” she said.
