Gambling group 888 is laying off dozens of its employees in Israel as part of a significant round of layoffs in the organization. 888, which employs a total of 11,000 people, cut dozens of jobs in Israel last January as well.
An 888 spokesperson said: “We are making some changes to our organizational structure that will better position the Group to achieve its long-term strategic plans. As part of this, regrettably, some roles will be made redundant in Israel. We will be offering our full support to those colleagues who are impacted.”
888 acquired competitor William Hill in September 2021 for £2.2 billion, a move which ultimately complicated the company’s financial situation.
888 was founded in 1997 by brothers Avi and Aaron Shaked and brothers Shay and Ron Ben-Yitzhak. The company went public on the London Stock Exchange in 2006 and currently has a market cap of around £363 million.
