The Hamitbah - Technological Center for Security and Resilience was launched this week at Sapir Academic College in Sderot with the aim to strengthen entrepreneurship and innovation in the region most affected by the war in Gaza. The center will operate in Sderot, Ofakim, and Sha’ar HaNegev.

Its goal is to support all stages of entrepreneurship, from encouraging innovative ideas to leading and raising capital investment. Additionally, it will offer a mentoring program with advisors in various fields, learning workshops in technological innovation, and organizing meetings with industry professionals, visits to incubators, innovation labs, and exposure to researchers and investors.
This initiative is a collaboration between the Ministry for the Development of the Negev and Galilee and National Resilience, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Economy and Industry, the Israel Innovation Authority, the Western Negev Municipal Association, the International Resilience Center in Sderot and Sapir Academic College.
Avi Yariv, CEO of Hamitbah, stated: "Hamitbah is expected to serve as a significant growth engine, leading to breakthroughs, technological innovation, and entrepreneurship in the Western Negev. Especially in this period, when Israel is experiencing one of the challenging periods in its history, I am excited to be part of the Technological Center for Security and Resilience, which aims to make the Western Negev a global leader in resilience innovation. In a place that is still experiences trauma, it is our duty to invest in significant employment and export activities that will drive Israel's economy forward."
