SafeDome VC: “Founders are fighters. You need fighters in the early stage.”
Ram Yonish, Partner at SafeDome VC, spoke to CTech at Tech TLV about the state of venture capitalism in wartime.
“What we want to do is find great companies that were in the middle of fundraising and then everything stopped,” explained SafeDome VC Partner Ram Yonish. “So we're going to provide them enough cash to complete their Seed round, or whatever round they were in, and stay in a positive momentum.”
SafeDome VC was founded the week following October 7th by Hilla Haddad Chmelnik, Ehud Schneorson, and Itzik Parnafes, with Yonish joining a few days later as a Partner. Its objective is to help very early-stage startups that showed good funding potential and also were in the middle of a very good momentum until October 7th and were impacted by the war. The firm is no-fee, no-carry, and pro-bono - with the hopes to deploy around $500,000 which should be enough for 5-6 months of runway.
“I think there are very interesting opportunities today in Israel,” Yonish continued. “They're good companies, founders are fighters. You need fighters in the early stages and if they can overcome that situation they will overcome everything.”
