The cyber unicorn, which has now raised $325 million since its founding in 2015, said the new funding is an extension of its Series E from March 2021
Aqua Security, which develops cloud native security solutions, has raised $60 million in funding, led by new investor Evolution Equity Partners, with participation from existing investors Insight Partners, Lightspeed Venture Partners and StepStone Group. The funding, an extension of the company’s Series E round, places Aqua’s valuation above $1 billion.
The company announced that it raised $135 million in its Series E at a valuation topping $1 billion in March 2021. It is believed to have retained the same valuation in the extension.
Aqua has now raised $325 million since it was founded in 2015 by Amir Jerbi and Dror Davidoff. It employs 500 people after laying off around 65 in December 2022.
Aqua, which develops a platform that identifies and stops attacks across the entire cloud native application lifecycle, has been rumored to be a target for acquisition for several companies, but as of yet no such deal has come close to materializing.
